 Odd Gen light issue
I don't think I've ever had this happen. So, I thought I would as you guys.
In my daily driver 69 beetle. The Gen light comes on at revs almost constantly. It has a new Generator, and a new Regulator. It's charging, I don't have any battery issues. Able to drive at night, with bright lights and run the radio.
When I put the Generator in I forgot to polorize it, the light wasn't on for the first few days. Then it came on, I polorized it. Still had the annoying light, so I replaced the Regulator too. Still have the same thing.
Any thoughts?

I was going to say polarize it...but you did. Is your generator stand painted or chrome plated? Could be a bad ground through there.

 Re: Odd Gen light issue
Come to think of it, I bet that's it Roy. When my teenager owned this car he tried to spuce up the engine by painting everything. The stand is painted, I'll try swapping it out for a regular one. I bet that will fix it.
Thanks. A lot of times it just takes another person thinking a different way.

 Re: Odd Gen light issue
ryan - Instead of pulling the generator and stand, you might Try just running a ground wire from the little screw on top of the genny case, nearest to the fan shroud, over to a solid ground, like at the voltage regulator. i did that Years ago on busterBrown, but i've forgotten why ...
may be worth a try, and definitely less workage.
luck...db - - -

Yeah, Dave thats my plan for a temp fix. At least until the next time I feel like removing the stand, probably when I have the engine out next.
